On July 22nd, 2017, Katie and David were married at Peak Lodge, which is one of Sunday River’s many mountain-side wedding ceremony locations. The unique chairlift transportation to the venue provided the couple and their wedding guests with spectacular views during the seven minute ride. The wedding ceremony took place at the arbor of the outdoor patio of the lodge, which overlooks the breathtaking Newry and Bethel Maine mountainside.
The couple shared their first dance on the dance floor of the beautiful wood-beamed lodge. After the heartfelt toasts and speeches by Katie’s father, the best man and maid of honor, everyone enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The buffet style dinner stations featured Maine lobster rolls, beef tenderloin and fresh steamed vegetables.
We took Katie and David outside again at sunset to take advantage of the amazing colors in the sky that evening. They were so lucky to have such a perfect location for their wedding photos!
Everyone enjoyed the rest of the reception which included great dance music and of course, a packed dance floor. To finish off the prefect evening, Katie and David’s wedding guests surrounded them with sparklers as they said their farewells and departed as husband and wife.
Here’s a little more about the wedding in Katie’s words:
Tell us how the two of you met.
We met while playing trivia at a local pizza place.
Please describe you how you got engaged.
The proposal took place on Christmas Eve. It was the first Christmas that we didn't travel out of state to see family. Dave made dinner for us and then we decided to open our gifts instead of waiting until Christmas. After we opened our presents, Dave said that he might have one more gift and gave me the ring. We didn't call or tell anyone until the next day. We went skiing on Christmas Day.
What was your vision and color palate for your wedding?
Our color palette was navy and blush. I wanted the wedding to be simple but beautiful.
What is your favorite moment of your wedding day?
I think my favorite moment of our wedding day was just seeing all our friends and family in one place. I also liked the chairlift ride up to the venue.
What was your first dance song?
Our first dance was to Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan.
Tell us about the details of your special day, including your dress, flowers, cake, etc.
Our flowers were really simple, pale pink roses and spider poms with a lot of greenery. We had cupcakes instead of cake and they were delicious. We had four flavors; chocolate, red velvet, strawberry and carrot. My dress is from Allure Bridals and is a strapless, sheath style dress in antique/ivory with lace and beadwork. Our rings are from Brilliant Earth, their diamonds are all ethically sourced and the metals are recycled.
