I have always wanted to photograph a wedding at the Barn at Silver Oaks Estate in Winthrop, Maine so I was so excited when Katie and Jesse asked me to photograph their September 9th, 2023 wedding there. When I arrived at the venue, I immediately noticed how beautiful the venue is. The barn is a perfect mix of rustic and elegance and the ceremony site sits at the bottom of a hill with a stairway leading up to the top.

Katie and the girls got ready in the barn’s bridal suite, while the guys got ready offsite at Homewood Suites in Augusta. Once the guys arrived at the Barn, Katie had a first look with her dad and we took portraits of the guys and girls separately, as they wanted to see each other for the first time at their wedding ceremony.

The steps leading up the hill made the perfect aisle for Katie and her dad. Jesse and the guests looked on as they made their way to the ceremony. The couple exchanged vows under the beautifully decorated arbor. It was such a lovely ceremony.

After the ceremony, we took all of the family and wedding party portraits, followed by portraits of the bride and groom together. Meanwhile, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside on the lawn. Everyone found their seats inside the barn and then the wedding party was announced into the reception. Katie and Jesse did their first dance as family and friends watched from their tables and the wedding party surrounded the dance floor.

Everyone enjoyed a buffet style dinner and then I took Katie and Jesse outside for more couple’s portraits. The road leading up to the venue and the lighted cocktail area were perfect photo locations. Once we were back inside the barn, the maid of honor and best man said their speeches and toasted to the couple. After the parent dances, the dance floor opened up and everyone danced the night away. They even had a dollar dance, which was a huge hit! It was a great celebration and I’m so glad that Katie and Jesse chose me to capture such a wonderful day.
